Education Minister Erica Stanford today released the final two learning areas – Health and Physical Education and the Arts – completing the release of the updated Years 0-10 New Zealand Curriculum. This follows the release of the Year 0-10 learning areas Technology and Learning Languages, last week. “This curriculum provides a clear and nationally consistent pathway for learning, helping students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed at school and beyond.” The updated New Zealand Curriculum provides a detailed and explicit year-by-year approach across all content…
Seniors Minister Casey Costello has welcomed new clinical guidance to support assessments of older drivers’ fitness to drive. The updated guidance confirms that older drivers should not undergo routine cognitive screening based on age alone. Health practitioners should assess each person individually and use cognitive screening where there is a clinical reason. “The change responds to an issue raised by seniors across the country and is a key delivery under the Better Later Life Action Plan, supporting older New Zealanders to stay independent, connected and active for longer,” Ms Costello sa…
The Government has accepted all of the recommendations in the Public Inquiry into the Disappearance of the Phillips Children, which was released today. “The circumstances of this case were exceptional, if not unique, however lessons must nonetheless be learned, particularly how agencies should work and operate together,” Louise Upston says. “At the heart of this are the Phillips children who lived for almost four years in isolation from family, community and wider society, in squalid conditions which deprived them of the experiences, relationships, and opportunities New Zealanders would rega…

Fellow Ukrainians! A few key points from today. Together with the military – I spoke with Defense Minister Khmara and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Drapatyi – we are accelerating all work to the maximum to protect against jet-powered “shaheds.” Manufacturers are preparing solutions – there are already developments and testing is underway, but we need production volumes as soon as possible, and they must be sufficient and, of course, proven. Every day, we need to track what is being done and what decisions can accelerate the results. I want to thank all our manufacturers who…

We are at the Florencio Sánchez Cultural Center in the hills of Montevideo, participating in the launch of the month of diversity under this year's slogan. Repairing the present is [music] building the future. Repairing involves concrete and direct actions in public policy responses. Diversity touches on many branches, but it also crosses sectors of the population that have very palpable social vulnerabilities. I am part of diversity as a trans girl. I feel that this type of visibility is really necessary because we are a sector that is often stigmatized and violated, and through these type…
How are you? Hello, how are you? Good afternoon. Before I address your questions, I think it's important to remember a few things that are important to people and to the government . It should be noted that as a result of the emergencies we experienced in recent months due to adverse weather conditions, on Friday the payment of 11,300 recovery bonds was finalized , representing a disbursement of approximately 9 billion pesos. This aid, this first post-emergency assistance, was distributed in the 10 regions that experienced weather emergencies and for which a state of catastrophe was declared …

My little Chilean flag, my little tricolor flag. [music] Chile, I love you for being the best country in Chile. Chile, I love you for your people and your spectacular food. For our mining, for the Flowering Desert, for its mountain range. Chile, I love you because I am Chilean. [music] For the people, for being our home, for the heritage. And I will always love you because this is where I was born. May God bless Chile. [music]
Because there is only one way to be Chilean. Chile, I love you in all your versions. [music] To those who enjoy the holiday and to those who put their shoulder to the wheel by working. For those who light the barbecue with charcoal and for those who prefer gas. To those who like empanadas with pebre and to those who are picky [music] with raisins. To those who start with a good anticucho and to those who go straight to the earthquake. To the one who sets up the inn in the yard and to those who live it in the countryside. To those with the little nickname and those with the filled churro. T…
Dear compatriots, good evening. As these national holidays begin , I want to send warm greetings to every family in our country, to those celebrating in our cities and in our countryside, in the north, in the center and in the south, in our islands, in Patagonia and in Antarctica. And also to the Chileans who are far away, but who during these days feel Chile closer than ever. September is a different month, [music] it is the month of the homeland, it is the month in which we celebrate what unites us as Chileans and that invites us to ask ourselves the question about what Chile is. Chile i…
