Secretary’s Notes: Secretary Dave Gomez — Presidential Communications Office 9/12/2026
Uh, after one day of the working visit, I I would say that it's been a productive first day for the president, no? Uh, he has had uh I think, if I'm not mistaken, six or seven meetings already, no? Three with three big Indian organizations uh in in rail and disaster resilience uh and then some four other big uh Indian businesses, no? So, he met with them the whole day today. Uh tomorrow will also be another full day for the president. Uh he will be attending the open session of of BRICS. Uh he'll be meeting with with a lot of uh a lot of the leaders interacting with a lot of the world leaders there, including uh uh the Russian president uh and then the Chinese premier, no? Uh and uh he will have a bilateral meeting with the with the Prime Minister Modi of India tomorrow. So, it's going to be another long day for the president. So, it's going to be the president's birthday tomorrow uh and and he will be working uh whole day tomorrow. And that coalition will help share with us your experiences other coalition members in terms of dealing with with disaster, no? With disasters. So, uh on the one hand to to long on the tile uh to build infrastructure like roads, bridges, especially ports to be disaster resilient uh moving forward, no? It don't coalition at all in acknowledge that in a global because of climate change uh you you my weather patterns that I can go back on so so uh you you I can my infrastructure public infrastructure should be more disaster resilient. To to long on the tile so so financing or to to long on the tile how we can finance you my disaster resilient infrastructure projects. I can say something on the line of that. >> It's really an aspiration, but long-term pa. To eventually, ultimately, launch a Philippine satellite uh into space. Alam natin sa sa mga panahon na 'to, napakahalaga to have your own satellite uh uh in orbit uh from from predicting uh climate patterns, weather patterns, uh to defense and security, uh to uh disaster mitigation. Uh Ultimately, 'pag may sarili kang satellite, na-pre-predict mo 'yung 'yung weather patterns. Na-pre-predict mo 'pag may darating na ano. It will save lives. It will save lives. It will save properties. Uh so, uh pero nagsisimula tayo ngayon sa administrasyon ng Pangulong Marcos. >> Um Sir, balik na lang po konti lang. Kasi Sir, um uh we only have 2 years under this administration. >> Mhm. >> Do you think the this administration is now building on its legacy po? >> Uh 2 years more. >> 2 years more. >> With >> Do you think it's something that that's that's why they they said that there's urgency >> Mhm. >> from the president, you know, in a way saying um >> Mhm. >> uh directing all the cabinets to >> Correct. Correct. >> expedite >> Uh no, I would say 2 years more, and in 2 years we can still do a lot, you know, a lot of uh and you can see that in the in the foreign trips of the president. The president is uh engaging in what we call economic diplomacy, you know, uh he's meeting with world leaders uh to attract investment. He's work He's meeting with the private sector to attract investments to the Philippines. Uh Ultimately, it will create more quality job for jobs for Filipinos, you know. Uh so, 'yung economic diplomacy approach ng Pangulo ay patuloy, you know, ay patuloy. Uh Itong BRICS summit natin ito, napakahalaga nito dahil sabi nga ng mga organizers, uh parang 40 to 50% of the world population reside in BRICS countries. No, Uh uh I'm I'm in top three in top three uh economies of the world, one of uh the top three economies of the world. Russia, India, and China belong to BRICS, no? Uh a lot of a lot of excited that's been created here in New Delhi with with this with this summit, no? Uh Xi Jinping and uh Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Modi, they will be all all be here. Uh And combined, I think in gross domestic product of the 11 BRICS nation is not so much going to be 40% or 30% of the world GDP. So, uh I don't know if I can do uh I'm going to do it again. Uh chairman of ASEAN. Uh I'm going to be giving you an intervention book of the BRICS summit on on the ASEAN and I think you know what I'm going to do with my priorities. And I think uh you know you know you know what I'm going to do with my priorities is really aligned with his foreign policy. No. Uh a friend to all and an enemy to none, no? Uh So, you know you know what I'm going to do with my priorities is really aligned with his foreign policy. Uh I'm doing dual role again here, you know, as president of the republic and as chair of the ASEAN, no? So, uh again, I think you know what I'm going to do with my priorities is really aligned with his foreign policy. Uh I'm doing dual role again here, you know, as president of the republic
