It often seems that we always have to fight harder than others to move forward on our way to the EU. Ukraine has earned the right to move faster. And this is exactly the kind of political decision Europe needs today.

What is happening today - the opening of the first cluster in the negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova - is a clear signal that the progress of Europe cannot be stopped.
We have worked hard to get to this point. In recent years, Ukraine and Moldova have taken important steps together. And it is especially symbolic that today I am addressing you from Chisinau on my way to France, for the G7 summit.
Our neighborly relations with Moldova are strong. We support each other and move towards the EU together. And together we will achieve this goal.

I am grateful to His Holiness for his support and absolutely clear moral position: Russian drone strikes on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a shrine not only of Ukraine, but also of Orthodoxy in general, are barbarism for which there is no justification.
