BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- BRICS is returning to China once again. At the ongoing BRICS summit in New Delhi, India, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced on Saturday that China will host the BRICS gathering next year. The long journey of BRICS began with an idea. The term "BRIC" was coined in 2001 by former Goldman Sachs economist Jim O'Neill to describe Brazil, Russia, India and China as emerging economies with significant growth potential. Over the past two decades, China has hosted three BRICS summits, each marking a new milestone in the group's evolution, expanding the scope of coope…

[music] Well, thank you very much, Mr. President, for receiving us. Hey, I'm so glad to be back in Colombia. It had been a long time. I came last time as a senator, but during the last 4 years, in my role as senator and then as secretary of state, we hadn't traveled here, and I think that to some extent that shows a bit of the distance that had been created between our governments, which is not natural because the links between the United States and Colombia are almost impossible to replicate in another country in the region. These are links that exist on a personal level, on a cultural l…
Colombians, there are government decisions that need to be explained very clearly because confusion can grow around them, and in this case, that confusion could put people's safety at risk. President de la Espella signed Decree 1368 of September 8, 2026, which lifts the general suspension of permits for carrying firearms in Colombia. And I want to explain it plainly. What does this decision mean, and what does lifting the general suspension not mean ? It is not about authorizing the free carrying of weapons. The decree restores the effectiveness of individual permits that are in force and …
I've brought the little detail. Look how cute. But I want a picture with both of them. But you can take up to two photos if you want. Come on, come on, come on. I am an ambassador, brother. Did you do this? Yes, we hold the workshop there, Mr. President. But brother, we barely noticed. We said it was the first time we released anything, brother. But wood. Wood. Yes sir. But super cute. I'm going to put it in my office. I belong to whoever goes where. Two poems. Help me. Put the camera on it. Doña Gloria Inés. Yes. I will follow myself in two poems. How nice. I am in the Come on, ge…
Colombians, to talk about the budget, we must first make the accounts transparent. Let's begin. There is a question that seems simple but carries enormous weight in the cultural sector . How much does culture cost us ? But that question only makes sense after another question, the one that really matters. How much of that money actually reaches the artists, the creators, the cultural organizations and the territories? Because discussing budgets without knowing how what has already been allocated is being executed is starting the conversation from the wrong side, from the wrong side. And tha…
Colombians, there is good news. An opinion poll doesn't change the work of a government, but it does deserve to be discussed when it reflects the outcome of the commitment. Atlas Intel, in partnership with Bloomberg, presented this week its latest image measurement of the country's main public figures, corresponding to the first month of this government's administration. According to that measurement, President Abelardo de la Espilella has the highest positive image among all the figures evaluated with 54% favorability, followed by Vice President José Manuel Restrepo with 53%. We do n't se…
to begin. So, Juan David, let's get ready to start recording. Good morning. Receive a warm greeting on behalf of the Administrative Department of the Presidency of the Republic and the Citizen Relations Office. It is a great pleasure to welcome you to this new meeting of the dialogue cycles of the School of Training in Participation. Citizen participation, as we have stated on previous occasions, aims to strengthen dialogue between institutions and society, promote the informed exercise of rights, and contribute to the consolidation of an increasingly participatory democracy. Citizen partic…
Colombians, we promised to protect animals. We are fulfilling our commitments. Let's begin. Colombia has a debt to the animals that suffer abuse. Angel's story reminded us why. In 2021, Ángel was the victim of a case of extreme cruelty in Saboyaboyacá. He survived. It became a national symbol of the fight against animal abuse and ended up giving its name to Law 2455 of 2025, known as the Angel Law. But Ángel died before seeing the protection that his story helped to promote fully materialized. That case taught a clear lesson. Rather than being outraged, the state must respond. That is why…
