This morning, at the Permanent Secretaries’ Retreat on “Resilient Leadership: Advancing the Public Service in Changing Times,” we focused on making government more efficient, responsive and results-driven.

Permanent Secretaries play a critical role in turning the Government’s mandate into action and ensuring that policies and programmes deliver real improvements in the lives of Jamaicans.

We must also continue to change the mindset within the public bureaucracy, from process-driven to execution-focused, with greater urgency, accountability and a clear focus on results.
