The New Social Housing Programme is about giving vulnerable Jamaicans the opportunity to have a safe and secure place to call home.

In Central Kingston, we are helping to renew the housing stock and improve the lives of families who need this support. We have now constructed 349 houses, with another 65 at various stages of construction.

I was pleased to hand over a new home to a deserving mother who, through the proper assessment process, was found to be in need of this support.

This is not a political programme. It is about identifying those who are most vulnerable and making sure public resources reach the people who genuinely need them.

With every house we build, I want the investment of public funds to be visible. The plaque on each home is a reminder that the Government of Jamaica has stepped in to help improve the life of a Jamaican citizen.
