I am deeply saddened by the passing of George G. Soutar C.D. O.D., K.C.

George was, above all, an all-round good man. He was a gentleman, a man of principle and someone whose life was defined by service to Jamaica.

He was the lone surviving member of an earlier leadership corps of the Jamaica Labour Party and served as Chairman of the Party’s Disciplinary Committee and as a Trustee of the Party. He carried with him a wealth of history, experience and memories of our Party and our country.

I had great respect for George and the contribution he made through his distinguished legal career and his years of dedicated service to the Jamaica Labour Party.

His passing is a great loss, and I know many Jamaicans, particularly those who knew him personally, will feel it deeply.

My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, colleagues and the wider Jamaica Labour Party family. May they find strength and comfort in the memories of a life well lived and a man who gave much to Jamaica.

May his soul rest in peace.
