‘Starter Home Supports’ brings together information on five key supports designed to help buyers, renters and renovators move into their new home

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD today announced that a new national communications campaign is being launched this week to raise awareness of the types of affordable supports available for people to own, rent or renovate a home.

The multi-media advertising campaign (including TV, radio, print, digital, social media and 5-part podcast series) will inform the public how to easily accessStarter Homes Supportswhich include the following schemes:

Speaking today, Minister Browne emphasised:

“Right now, thousands of people are utilising Starter Home Supports to get moving in.

“These supports are assisting people to put together a deposit, to find secure rented accommodation, or to breathe new life into vacant properties.

“Getting sorted with a tenancy or even being on the path to buy a home can be massively overwhelming. There are a lot of financial pressures and a lot of things to figure out. I want to make sure that the resources we have put in place are accessible and that people get as much support as possible to get moving into their own place. As Minister, I am focused on driving on with getting badly needed supply increased and accelerating the development of homes for families and individuals to buy and rent across our towns and cities. It’s critical to me that we make it clearer that there are options out there.

“It’s essential that people starting out know where to go for information. ‘Starter Home Supports’ brings together five individual key supports designed to help buyers, renters and renovators.

The Government is funding an ambitious Starter Homes programme nationwide, as a key component of the new housing action plan Delivering Homes, Building Communities 2025 – 2030. This programme brings together the range of affordable housing measures under one umbrella and will support the delivery of an average of 15,000 Starter Homes supports annually to 2030.

The programme provides first time buyers and those needing a fresh start with a range of supports to assist them to purchase or rent a home. In addition, support is provided for the refurbishment of vacant or derelict properties.

Delivering Homes, Building Communities 2025 – 2030 committed to delivering a communications campaign to ensure that the public has an awareness of these supports and the opportunities they might present in helping them to find a new home.
