The O’Delices Road is once again accessible to motorists following the successful removal of debris from a landslide which affected the safe passage of vehicles over the weekend.

Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities and the Digital Economy, Lynn Delsol, confirmed that the clearing operation has been completed and thanked the heavy-equipment operator, technical personnel and all others who assisted.

Delsol said the Ministry is fully aware of the challenges affecting that section of the road and has already conducted several technical assessments.

“Today, I will visit the area with members of our technical team to review the current situation, determine whether any further immediate works are required and follow up on the longer-term recommendations,” she stated.

The Acting Permanent Secretary acknowledged the importance of the road to residents and surrounding communities and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to pursuing a permanent solution.

“We recognise the need for a permanent solution and remain committed to working towards the most appropriate way forward, taking into consideration the technical recommendations and the resources required,” Delsol said.

The Ministry will continue to monitor the area closely. Motorists and other road users are advised to drive carefully, reduce their speed and remain alert when travelling through the area, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.

The Ministry has also thanked residents and the travelling public for their patience, understanding and cooperation while the clearing works were undertaken.
