The main topic of discussion was the possibility of Slovenia hosting the first stages of the biggest road cycling race in the world in the near future. Today's meeting was a part of the Tour de France management’s visit to Slovenia and the continuation of discussions regarding Slovenia’s candidacy.
The Prime Minister expressed his support for efforts of the Tour coming to Slovenia. Hosting such a prestigious sports event would be a significant opportunity to promote Slovenian sports and cycling, and to further enhance Slovenia's visibility as a tourist and cycling destination.
General Director Prudhomme expressed his satisfaction with Slovenia's strong candidacy and interest in hosting the first stages of the Tour. Alongside Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands are also interested in hosting the event.
