Deir Ezzor, Sept. 20 (SANA)A medical campaign offering specialized treatment and clinical training was launched in Deir Ezzor, easternSyria, on Saturday, targeting about 800 patients across the province.

The “Jusoor”campaign, organized by the Deir Ezzor Health Directorate in cooperation with the U.S.-based Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS), is the fifth such initiative in Syria’s eastern region.

Deir EzzorHealth Director Dr.Nasr Alwantold SANA the campaign includes specialized procedures at Deir Ezzor National Hospital and hospitals in al-Huweidi, Al-Bukamal, Al-Mayadin and Hajin.

It also provides advanced clinical training for resident physicians and doctors from other Syrian provinces, with the aim of strengthening medical skills and clinical practice, Alwan said.

Dr. Mohammad Saleh, medical campaigns coordinator at SAMS, said 38 doctors from several specialties are taking part, including 18 physicians from Australia.

Services include joint replacement surgery, cardiac catheterization, general surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, neurology and dental surgery.

The campaign follows a medical initiative in July in which the Shifaa medical team, working with the U.S.-based Global organization, performed specialized surgeries at Deir Ezzor National Hospital as part of the Shifaa 4international medical campaign.
