New York, Sept. 20 (SANA)U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres andGulf Cooperation CouncilSecretary-General Jasem Al Budaiwi on Saturday condemnedHouthi militiaattacks on Saudi Arabia and the targeting of civilian sites, citing risks to regional security and stability.

The two officials discussed the attacks during a meeting on the sidelines of the 81st session of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, according to theGCCGeneral Secretariat.

They also discussed regional developments and reviewed cooperation between the United Nations and the GCC and ways to strengthen it.

Guterreshighlighted the role of GCC countries and their regional and international efforts to promote security and stability.

The meeting came after Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward Riyadh on Saturday.

Al-Maliki accused the Houthi militia of deliberately and systematically targeting civilians and civilian sites, describing the attacks as “terrorist and hostile behavior.”
