Cairo, Sept. 20 (SANA)Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met on Sunday with CIA Director John Ratcliffe to discuss regional security developments and international maritime navigation safety.

Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for comprehensive efforts to restoreregional stabilityand safeguard freedom of navigation, reiterating Cairo’s firm commitment to Arab state sovereignty and rejection of aggression. Sisi emphasized resolving regional crises through political and diplomatic channels while preserving national institutions and territorial integrity.

Gaza ceasefire and political process

Regarding the Palestinian cause, Sisi highlighted the importance of fully implementing Phase II of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to consolidate theGazaceasefire, commending mediators for working toward an implementation roadmap. He stressed the need for civil protection, sustainablehumanitarian aiddelivery, and establishing conditions to revive political negotiations toward a two-state solution aligned with international legitimacy.

On Sudan, Sisi affirmed Egypt’s stance supporting Sudanese unity and national institutions, pointing to Cairo’s engagement in regional frameworks to end the conflict and alleviate human suffering. Addressing Horn of Africa dynamics, Sisi voiced support forSomalia’s stability and rejected infringements on its sovereignty or territorial integrity.

Enhancing U.S.-Egyptian cooperation

Ratcliffe emphasized the U.S. administration’s commitment to close coordination with Egypt to bolster Middle Eastern security. He commended Egypt’s stabilizing role across Africa and called for continued bilateral intelligence and security cooperation onSudan, Somalia, counterterrorism, andmaritime security.

The meeting follows Sisi’s discussions last week with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on pressing regional affairs.
