Damascus, Sept. 20 (SANA)Syrian Internal Security Forcesarrested Lt. Col. Suleiman Ahmad Hassan, a former intelligence officer under the deposed regime, following a security operation based on surveillance and close monitoring of his movements.

The Internal Security Forces said Sunday that preliminary investigations showed Hassan had served in the Military Intelligence Directorate, where he headed the investigations section and later the legal affairs section at Branch 248.

Hassan was directly responsible for overseeing central investigations involving demonstrations, opposition-related cases and defected officers during the years of the Syrian revolution, according to the security forces.
