Khartoum, Sept. 20 (SANA)Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a series of drone strikes targeting residential areas in El-Obeid on Sunday, killing at least two people and injuring 20 others, the Sudan Doctors Network reported.

The independent medical group said guided drones pounded several neighborhoods in the North Kordofan capital from dawn through midday, inflicting heavy damage on civilian homes and infrastructure.

Condemning the attacks as a blatant violation of international law, the network warned that the deliberate shelling of populated zones is deepening the city’s humanitarian and healthcare crisis. It urged the international community and rights organizations to hold theRSFleadership accountable and force an immediate end to civilian targeting.

The latest escalation comes despite repeated international calls for restraint. In mid-July, G7 nations and EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas demanded an immediate halt to RSF operations around El-Obeid to prevent further atrocities against civilians.

Fighting between theSudanese Armed Forcesand the breakaway RSF has raged since April 2023, leaving tens of thousands dead or wounded and driving millions from their homes.
