Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Receives Heads of Leading Think Tanks and Research Centers in Iraq ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi received today, Sunday, a group of heads of leading think tanks and research centers in Iraq. During the meeting, they discussed the current state of think tanks and research centers, their role across various fields, and mechanisms for making greater use of their work, particularly studies and research that contribute to shaping public policy and supporting the decision-making process. The Prime Minister emphasized the important role played by think tanks and research centers, reaffirming the government’s support for them and the need to strengthen channels of communication and cooperation between these centers and state institutions. He also stressed the importance of enhancing their presence and expanding their contribution to addressing the issues and challenges facing the state and society. The Prime Minister discussed the course of Iraq’s foreign policy as well as the government’s plans and strategies in the political, security, and economic fields. He affirmed that Iraq is working to de-escalate tensions in the region and contribute to addressing regional crises, based on its role and responsibility in supporting regional security and stability. Prime Minister Al-Zaidi noted that Iraq pursues an open foreign policy based on mutual respect and shared interests and seeks to build long-term economic and development partnerships with countries around the world, as well as with major international companies and institutions. On the economic front, the Prime Minister explained that Iraq is currently facing exceptional economic challenges amid the repercussions of the war in the region and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the government continues to support and develop the private sector as a fundamental pillar for achieving development and diversifying the economy, alongside plans to establish a development fund and continue implementing the One Million Residential Land Plots Project and new cities. The Prime Minister reiterated the important role that think tanks and research centers can play in providing solutions and approaches to the various issues facing Iraq. He noted their potential contribution to advancing the country’s development and called for greater engagement with successful international experiences, drawing lessons from them and adapting them to Iraq’s specific circumstances and needs.
