Security forces arrest former Air Force general over attacks on civilians

Damascus, Sept. 20 (SANA)The Internal Security Forces arrested former Air Force Brigadier General Pilot Zakaria Mohammad Sannoun, who served as head of the Operations Branch of the 22nd Division under theousted regime, over his role in planning and carrying out air attacks against civilians during the Syrian revolution.

The Internal Security Forces said Sannoun headed the division’s Operations Branch from 2012 to 2020 and was among the prominent figures involved in planning and carrying out war crimes and air attacks against civilians during that period.

According to theInternal Security Forces, Sannoun directly supervised operations at three military airbases under the division: Hama Military Airbase, Tiyas Airbase (T-4 Air base) and Shayrat Military Airbase.
