Yeah, President, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, indeed it's a pleasure to be here tonight, Mr. President. Let me emphasize again along to you and your team to say welcome. Thank you for gracing this occasion where your citizens, Liberians, have converged in appreciation of the good work you're doing for your people and your country. >> Few days from now, Mr. President, as you will be making the case on behalf of your country and your people at the UNGA, citizens of Liberia in the diaspora with emphasis in in America, honor the umbrella of Nimbo, the national independent movement for black have decided to appreciate you because they are overwhelmed. They are excited with the generinous work that is being done back home. A lot of them travel from far and near. Some of them have to get on flight to come here. Some of them drove hours to be here. Some of them left their homes, their offices, their jobs to be here to tell you, Mr. President, how we take this very serious. It's not ordinary. And you can testify to tell you in America those of you that know it better than I do to give an ultimator and say be here by 7. In fact, we told most of our friends 5:00 you must be here because the turnary and the protocol is so tense and then nothing after the hours or the meetings they're going to give us. As you can see the organization, the serenity and the organization of this place, Mr. President, it tells you how Liberians appreciate you. We are excited. If nothing good has happened for our country, but receiving you this time as our president is the best thing in our view that has happened to our country. [cheering] And when that means our wars, we celebrate you everywhere. Every part of the world, we have means to go. Mr. President Nemo has asked me to call you and give you a name here tonight. >> We call you the billionaire JMBB. [cheering] >> Billionaire JMBB. [cheering] And the reason we call you billionaire JNB, >> our country has been existent for 179 years. >> It is under your regime >> that history has recorded or going to record that our national budget >> has hit 1 billion first time in our country history. That is a milestone. That's a history that you have made. It's a legacy that generation and generation of born will come and recall. We say thank you Mr. President. >> Today I know it's going to be political some will say billionaire I mean 1 billion but we know what it means. When papa get more papa spend more. So the more we get the more power we spend. Business, social services for our people will be met. >> Our children will go to school. Schools will be built. Roads will be bills. Infrastructures will be bills. Hospitals will be bills. Schools will be bills because papa get plenty money. >> So papa will spend money wisely. >> We say thank you agriculture. Mr. President they say I should say thank you to you while we are preparing the program. Boom. When we haul 1 billion we haul 306 machine for agriculture purpose. [applause] >> Nemo's home we will celebrate you. If no one celebrate you Nemo will celebrate you >> 306 machines. Our farmers will work and I think it's a opportunity for our people. It was us to celebrate. We will celebrate that we lose again >> because you're doing your job. I want to thank you for love our country. I want to thank you for your belief in us and for the commitment we made to you when we took office. One of the things that you haven't even mentioned is the fact that for the first time even with all the problems we had Liberia is now a member of the UN security council [cheering] command member. [applause] It is an honor to our country to make decision for the world. We want to thank Thomas and all of you here for it of honor and also for being citizens who believe in their country and who recognize progress development and are willing to identify with When summer started, we all thought it was just another Liberian eye. But Thomas Farah is among for me the most respected Liberian in that. [applause] [cheering] Somebody who was in very strong opposition will later recognize something that he regards as good and try to become a part of it and not just becoming part of it to recruit people to see the good that is coming to our country. We want to say thank to you for those of you who are here in the United States and for all that you what you do. But I want to particularly thank the people of the United States for allowing our peoples to stay here during the crisis and as well as even now to give them opportunity for education opportunity to be of support to their home. Want to thank them for that. I want to thank the leadership of Nimbo here in the United States for a warm welcome and for bringing all of you together in the spirit of fellowship, patriotism and service. >> [applause] >> Although this program has been organized by Nimbo USA, my message tonight is directed to every Liberian. Whether you come from Nima, from Lufa County, Grandasa, Milan, Monser, Grand from any other county in our beloved republic. We are one people. We share one national identity and we must work together to build one Liberia. >> [applause] >> I have said it over and again that I didn't come to this position for presidency. >> I am not perfectly for the next election. I am here for the next generation. [applause] >> [cheering] >> Fellow Liberians, our country has endured division, conflict, hardship, and disappointment. But we have also demonstrated extraordinarily that we are residing people. We have prayed and preserved for peace. We have defended our democracy and begun building the institutions of our nation. It would appear that Liberia is up. I've been here for a couple of days. I heard about 1 billion. I heard about agriculture machines. ahead of a a butt I mean a ship for our Liberians. I want to thank the people of the Maritan Affairs for working together with us. I know you are here. The history behind that is that when our women go to China and different places to get goods, they take loans. The goods don't get to Liberia for 26 celebration. They don't get there for Christmas and they have to pay those loans. So we thought it would be a service to them to get a boat that can bring that group [applause and cheering] and also be be used to train our young people who are going through maritime education. want to thank you for listening to us and for cooperating with us. Time has come now to move beyond divisions of the past. We must reject tribalism, >> regionalism, >> political bitterness >> and personal attack. Today you can go to the southeast and come back. >> Today we can go to Lan. [applause] >> We must never again allow our differences to become greater than our sheer love for our country. >> No political party, county, ethnic group or individual can develop Liberia alone. The progress we seek will require all of us at home and abroad working together with honesty, discipline, and common purpose. To our Liberians in the diaspora, I want you to know that you are not outsiders to Liberian development. You are partners in our national transformation. For many years, you have supported families, educated children, finan businesses, assisted communities, and responded whenever Liberia faced a national emergency. Your remittances have helped to sustain our economy and improve the lives of countless citizens of Liberia. But Liberians now need more than that, more than remances. We need your professional knowledge, >> your investment capital, your technology, institutional networks, your market access and international experience. I therefore call upon you to take five practical actions. One, we want you to remain united. >> [applause] >> Let your organization become platform for cooperation, national service, not arenas for division and partisan conflict. Second, invest in Liberia. [applause] want you to move from consumption to production by supporting agriculture, energy, infrastructure, tourism, housing, technology, healthcare, education and other job creating enterprises. Third, share your knowledge and professional skills. Our doctors, engineers, educators, entrepreneurs, scientists, technicians, and public administrators can mentor young Liberians, support our institutions, and help transform modern knowledge and technology. For those of you who have retired, I said you are retired, but not tired. >> [applause] >> You have a lot you can give for build partnership between institutions. Connect our universities, our hospitals, our businesses, counties, professional associations, civil society organizations with credible partners. Here in the United States, we have been having very very productive meetings with the members of Congress here and business people. Join us. Fifth, become ambassadors for Liberia. >> Promote our country's opportunities. Defend its name. and help attract responsible investors, tourists, educators, and development partners. I've heard a lot of saying some of our friends say they are the gateway to Africa and I say Liberia is the destination. >> [applause] >> These actions are central to our arrest agenda for inclusive development. Through this agenda, we are advancing agriculture. We are building roads, the rule of law, education, sanitation, tourism, and other priorities that can improve the lives of our people. >> Thank you. My administration is committed to accountability >> to transparency, reconciliation, and stronger public institutions. We know that confidence must be earned. Leaders are not necessarily to be loved. They should be respected. People will love you for different reasons, but they must respect you for what you believe in, what you stand for, and how to work with others. We will continue working to create an environment in which the diaspora, Liberians, and other investors can participate with greater certainty and trust. That brings me up to the upcoming Liberia diaphrag conference in Washington metroposition area. The theme is from dialogue to delivery. We don't plan the talking. It's time to act. >> Yes. the diaphrag capital innovation [applause] and the next Liberia. When investors come to Liberia, they know me. I tell them I don't believe in NATO NATO. No action talk only. So this team reflects our determination to move beyond speeches and good intentions. The conference must produce practical results. one Liberian to come with credible proposals, professional expertise, investment opportunities and institutional partnership. We tend to advance structured mechanisms for skill Martin, investment registration and sectorbased collaboration. Our goal is to launch a diaspora investment and skills initiated. Through this initiative, professionals and investors can register their expertise, sector interests and proposed projects. Priority areas will include energy, agriculture, infrastructure, health, education, technology, tourism and professional service. We have an embassy here that is very active and very relevant to government institutions. It will help receive, evaluate and route credible proposals for action. We want clear focal points, transparent screening, measurable outcomes, and sustained followup. Hello Liberians, this is our moment >> to replace division with unity and suspicion with trust. an endless discussion with delivery. Let us build a Liberian in which our young people can find opportunity, our farmers can reach markets, our businesses can grow, our institutions can function and every citizen can live with dignity. So, let me ask Nimbo USA and every Liberian organization in the diaspora, let me ask you to become partner in this national renewal. Let us put Liberia first. Let us work together and let us leave to the next generation a country stronger, more peaceful, more united, more prosperous than the one we inherited. I want to thank you for this honor. I want to thank you for your stand up. I've always said the Liberia we have is a country that you can p but you can't sell it. Liberia will always be there for this wonderful reception.
