Trump announces plans for federal ‘AI Force’ and appointment of ‘AI Czar’

Washington, Sept. 19 (SANA)U.S. President Donald Trump announced Saturday his intention to form an “AI Force,” modeled after the Space Force established during his first term, alongside appointing a high-level official to oversee artificial intelligence affairs.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated he will soon name an “AI Czar,” noting that applications for the role will be limited to “high I.Q. individuals.”

Trump describedartificial intelligenceas the “next Industrial Revolution” and the “new Internet,” estimating its potential economic impact at up to 25% of U.S. Gross Domestic Product.

He emphasized that his administration will support and develop the industry rather than stifle its growth, adding that harmful misuses will be addressed through existing civil and criminal legal frameworks.

Highlighting global technology competition, Trump asserted that the U.S. currently leads China and the rest of the world in AI development and pledged to maintain that lead.

Trumppreviously dismissed calls from tech industry leaders—including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman—for stricter government regulation and safeguards, calling safety concerns and warnings of unbridled AI risks a “hoax” and arguing that stringent limits would harm American competitiveness.
