London, Sept. 19 (SANA)British military installationshave faced more than 300 drone-related incidents over the past year, according to The Independent report on Friday. Official data revealed 340 security events involving drones inside or nearMinistry of Defensesites across theUnited Kingdomduring the 12 months leading up to August 2026.

In 2025, 250 incidents were recorded, nearly double the 126 reported the previous year. The Ministry of Defense has not disclosed the origin of thedrones, though the rise coincides with European concerns over intensified Russian multi‑platform attacks.

Secretary of State for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom Louise Sandher‑Jones previously told Agency France-Presse that London takes the threat of hostile drones against defense sites “very seriously.” She noted that the increase in reported incidents reflects improved vigilance and reporting, supported by new restricted air zones established in February over 44 strategic military sites, with plans to expand coverage to 160 additional locations in autumn.

Moscow has warned that British military facilities in Ukraine would be considered legitimate targets if used to support long‑range strikes against Russia.

The growing presence of drones over sensitive sites has become a pressing concern across Europe, with many linked to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and its spillover effects on NATO’s eastern flank. Other cases involve unidentified drones flying over restricted areas, deepening security fears and complicating Europe’s defense landscape.
