The meeting centered on faith, leadership, and the historic friendship between the two countries.

President Boakai emphasized the importance of partnerships that support Liberia’s peace, stability, and national development.

“Liberia deeply values its historic relationship with the United States. We remain committed to strengthening this partnership for the benefit of our people,” President Boakai said.

Dr. White-Cain said it was a tremendous honor to welcome President Boakai and his delegation to the White House. She said the meeting was particularly meaningful following her recent visit to Liberia, a country and people she has “come to love deeply.”

She described President Boakai as a respected leader and a cherished friend, noting that their conversation focused on faith, leadership and the continued friendship between Liberia and the United States.

Dr. White-Cain visited Liberia in July 2026 as a special guest during the country’s 179th Independence Anniversary celebrations. She delivered the sermon at the national Thanksgiving and Intercessory Service in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

During her message, the famed cleric praised Liberia’s resilience through years of conflict, political change, economic hardship, and public health emergencies. She also urged national leaders to embrace humility, integrity, accountability, and service while encouraging greater investment in Liberia’s young people.

On July 27, 2026, President Boakai conferred on Dr. White-Cain the Grand Band of the Order of the Star of Africa, one of Liberia’s highest national honors. The award recognized her longstanding religious and humanitarian engagement with Liberia and the African continent.

The White House meeting builds on the relationship established during that visit and provides another important platform for President Boakai to promote Liberia’s interests among senior figures in the United States Government.

The engagement supports deeper cooperation in faith-based development, humanitarian assistance, education and stronger people-to-people relations between Liberia and the United States.

At the climax of the meeting, Dr. White-Cain thanked President Boakai for the hospitality extended to her during her visit to Liberia and praised his commitment to serving the country.

President Boakai was accompanied by Foreign Minister and Dean of the Cabinet Sara Beysolow Nyanti; Director General of the Cabinet Nathaniel T. Kwabo; Liberia’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh; Executive Assistant to the President Morie Nemah; and Special Assistant to the President Louise Tamba.
