Arab, Islamic states and groups condemn Houthi drone attack on Saudi Arabia’s Taif

Capitals, Sept. 18 (SANA) Arab and Islamic states and organizations condemneda Houthi militiadrone attack onSaudi Arabia’s Taif province on Thursday, after Saudi authorities said falling debris killed one person and wounded two others.

Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan joined theGulf Cooperation Council, theOrganization of Islamic Cooperationand theMuslim World Leaguein condemning the attack and expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Civil Defense said one person was killed and two others, including a woman, were wounded by debris after Saudi forces intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthi militia over Taif.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry described the attack as a violation of Saudi sovereignty and international law and said Doha supported measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security and territorial integrity.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and backed measures taken to safeguard the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security and stability and protect its citizens and residents.

Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry condemned the continued Houthi militia attacks on Saudi Arabia and called on the U.N. Security Council to take a firm position against attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects.

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry said the drone attack constituted a violation of Saudi sovereignty and international law and threatened the Kingdom’s security, stability and territorial integrity.

Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Al Budaiwi condemned the attack and called for a firm international response to repeated Houthi militia attacks, including measures to protect civilians and hold those responsible accountable.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation said the attack violated international humanitarian law and international norms and reiterated its support for Saudi measures to protect the Kingdom’s territory.

The Muslim World League likewise condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
