Tunis, Sept. 18 (SANA)Tunisia and the General Secretariat of theCouncil of Arab Interior MinisterscondemnedHouthi militiadrone and missile attacks onSaudi Arabia, expressing solidarity with the Kingdom and support for its security and sovereignty.

The council’s General Secretariat strongly condemned a Houthi militia drone attack targetingMecca, describing it in a statement as a violation of international law and the sanctity of the Grand Mosque and holy sites, as well as a provocation to Muslims.

It affirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its territory and holy sites and safeguard its security, stability and the safety of its citizens and residents.

Tunisiaseparately condemned attacks targeting several Saudi cities, saying they threatened the Kingdom’s security and stability and constituted a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“Tunisia expresses its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and affirms its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding its security and stability and preserving freedom and security of maritime navigation,” the Tunisian Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the Tunis Afrique Presse news agency.

The ministry called for dialogue and peaceful solutions and urged against actions that could escalate tensions and undermine peace and security in the region.

The condemnations came amid a series of missile and drone attacks targeting areas in Saudi Arabia in recent days launched by Houthi militia.

Saudi Civil Defensesaid Thursday that one person was killed and two others, including a woman, were wounded by debris after Saudi forces intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthi militia over Taif province.

The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces said Tuesday that they intercepted and destroyed another drone launched by the Houthi militia south of Mecca.kA/ABD
