Syria, Uzbekistan explore cooperation in light industries, exports

Tashkent, Sept. 18 (SANA)Minister of Economy and IndustryNidal al-Shaarreviewed Uzbekistan’s experience in developing light industries and boosting exports during a visit to the country’s Agency for the Development of Light Industry, the ministry said Friday.

Al-Shaar was briefed on government support programs, industrial modernization, investment incentives and measures aimed at increasing production and export capacity.

The visit also covered the agency’s use of digital services to streamline procedures and improve the business environment, as well as efforts to promote exports, attract foreign investment and encourage companies to participate in local and international exhibitions.

Discussions addressed cooperation between the agency and industry associations in the textile, clothing, leather and footwear sectors, with a focus on improving production, product quality and competitiveness in international markets.

Al-Shaar arrived inUzbekistanon Thursday at the head of an economic delegation for talks on expanding trade, industrial and investment cooperation and exploring opportunities for joint projects.

The Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerceand theUzbek Chamber of Commerce and Industrysigned a memorandum of understanding in February covering the exchange of economic information, joint business events and participation in exhibitions.

Uzbekistan exported $2.6 billion worth of textile products to 75 countries in 2025 and aims to raise exports to $4 billion in 2026.
