Beirut, Sept. 17 (SANA)Lebanon’s Parliamentbacked Prime MinisterNawaf Salam’s government in a confidence vote on Wednesday, with 68 lawmakers voting in favor after two days of debate on the government’s performance.

Twelve lawmakers voted against the government and two abstained,Lebanon’s National News Agencyreported.

The Lebanese Parliament has 128 members, with at least 65 required for a quorum. Under parliamentary rules, a confidence motion requires an absolute majority oflawmakerspresent to pass.

Salam’s governmenthas been pursuing economic and institutional reforms while confronting security challenges, including the politically sensitive issue of weapons outside state control. Earlier this year, the Cabinet ordered restrictions onHezbollah militia’s military activities and moved to implement a plan aimed at bringing weapons under state authority.
