Aleppo, Sept. 17 (SANA)TheMilitary Criminal Court in Aleppoon Thursday sentenced one defendant to death, another to life imprisonment and a third to 20 years in prison over violations committed during the coastal events, while acquitting a fourth.

The verdicts were handed down in a public hearing at theAleppo Palace of Justice, presided over by court president Judge Zakaria Bakkar and attended by judicial officials, lawyers, journalists, rights advocates and relatives of detainees.

Kamel Atli, head of the Aleppo branch of the Bar Association, told SANA that volunteer lawyers represented several defendants, while hearings involving five others were postponed until Sept. 24 to complete judicial procedures.

The first public trials of defendants accused of violations during the coastal events began at the Aleppo Palace of Justice on November 18, with relatives of victims attending. Several subsequent hearings examined evidence and heard defense arguments.

The National Commission for Investigation and Fact-Finding into the Coastal Eventssaid in its July 22, 2025 report that remnants of the former regime launched widespread attacks on army and security headquarters on March 6, 2025, killing 238 personnel.

The commission also documented violations against civilians in the following days, saying they were committed by individuals and small groups with varying motives and were individual and indiscriminate rather than organized or part of a systematic pattern.
