Riyadh, Sept. 17 (SANA)One person was killed and two others were injured, including a woman, after debris from a drone launched fromYemenfell inSaudi Arabia’s Taif governorate following its interception and destruction by Saudi air defenses, authorities said Thursday

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense spokesman said debris from a drone launched by the Houthi group fell after it was intercepted and destroyed, causing the death of a Yemeni resident and injuring a Saudi woman and a Pakistani resident who was in critical condition.

The incident also caused material damage to several buildings and vehicles, the spokesman said, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The death marks the first fatality reported by Saudi authorities this month since the Houthi group, which is backed by Iran, intensified attacks targeting Saudi territory.Earlier on Tuesday, Saudi air defenses said they intercepted and destroyed a drone launched by the Houthis before it entered restricted airspace south of the holy city of Mecca.
