Tartous, Sept. 17 (SANA)A jointtraining campconcluded Thursday inTartousProvince with the participation of around 100 trainees, aiming to strengthen community preparedness and enhancevolunteers’ ability to respond to emergencies and disasters.

The camp was organized by the Volunteer Management Department at theMinistry of Emergency and DisasterManagement in cooperation with theAga Khan Foundation.

The training included theoretical and practical sessions on search and rescue, firefighting, first aid, and coordination between volunteer and civil defense teams.

Director of Civil Defense in Syria Munir Mustafa said the camp is part of a ministry volunteer program designed to provide qualified volunteers to support emergency response operations during crises and disasters.

Mamoun Khatib, Director of the Aga Khan Foundation’s Emergency Management Program, said the camp reflects the strategic partnership between the foundation and the ministry and aims to develop the skills and preparedness of community-based volunteer teams.

The organizers said the training initiative will be repeated in the coming years to further strengthen volunteer capabilities and coordination with civil defense teams.
