Over 14,000 visitors, 10,000 books sold at fourth Idlib Book Fair

Idlib, Sept. 17 (SANA)Thefourth Idlib Book Fairhas attracted more than 14,000 visitors and recorded sales of over 10,000 books since its opening last Saturday through Tuesday evening, according to the fair’s administration.

The event has drawn readers, students and cultural enthusiasts fromIdlib and other Syrian provinces, with active participation at publishers’ stands and strong engagement with accompanying cultural activities.

Fair Director Khaled al-Youssef told SANA that attendance andbook purchasescontinued to rise during the event. He said more than 4,700 visitors attended on Sunday, while Monday’s turnout exceeded 6,300, bringing the combined attendance for the two days to more than 11,000. More than 5,570 books were sold on Monday alone.

Held at theIdlib Cultural Centerunder the patronage of theMinistry of Culture and the IdlibDirectorate of Culture, the fair features more than 32 Syrian, Arab and international publishers and bookstores.

Al-Youssef said the turnout reflected growing interest in reading and books, noting that visitors showed interest in a wide range of political, intellectual, cultural, religious and literary titles.

The fair includes seminars, lectures and cultural events, providing a platform for readers, researchers and families to explore publications and participate in discussions.

Visitors highlighted the diversity of titles available, includingcultural, historical and translated works, as well as children’s books. Media researcher Abbas Sharifa, who traveled from Aleppo, said the variety of publications and public participation reflected continued interest in cultural activities and reading.

The fair also includes a dedicated children’s section featuringbooks and activitiesdesigned for young visitors. Several attendees said the section encouraged children to develop a closer connection with books from an early age.

The fourthIdlib Book Fairwill continue until Friday, with a possible extension, bringing together publishers and bookstores with readers, students, researchers and families.
