Colombians, President Abelardo de la Piella announced the termination of nine dialogue processes, socio-legal conversation spaces and temporary location zones that had been established during the previous administration. To put an end to what his administration describes as a policy of concessions and benefits for terrorist groups, criminal organizations, and other illegal actors. According to this government, during the last 4 years these structures increased their actions against the civilian population, the military forces and the police, while progress was being made in approaching representatives of the State. President Abelardo de la Espiella's administration maintains that armed groups took advantage of the dialogue spaces to strengthen their presence. territorial, increase their criminal capacity and challenge security and justice institutions. According to information provided to this government during the previous administration, the resources allocated by the State to these processes amounted to more than 7 billion pesos in fees for spokespeople, representatives, and negotiators. This figure, notes the president of Espiella, does not include other expenses associated with security schemes, travel expenses, location zones and logistics, that is, resources that were also financed with Colombian taxes. Faced with this situation, the president took a very clear stance. This government will not negotiate with criminal structures as long as they continue to use violence, drug trafficking, and extortion to impose their conditions in the territories. The new policy establishes that the only path for members of these outlaw groups will be submission to justice or confrontation with the public force within the framework of the law and the Constitution. The processes completed since August 7, 2026 include the dialogue table with the General Staff of the Magdalena Medio, Gentil Duarte, Jorge Suárez Briseño and Raúl Reyes Front blocs. The talks with the National Coordinator of the Bolivarian Army and the process with the Southern Communes Guerrilla Front were also concluded. The decision also covers spaces for socio-legal dialogue with the self-defense groups conquering the Sierra Nevada, with organized armed structures of high-impact crime in Medellín and the metropolitan area of ​​the Aburrá Valley, known for the so- called Tarimazo, and with criminal organizations from Kipdó and Buenaventura. With these decisions, President de la Espiella seeks to reorient national security policy and recover the authority of the State in the regions where armed groups and organized crime organizations operate.
