Abduvakkos Rafikov, Chairman of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, held meetings with a delegation of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK), led by Petteri Tiippana, as well as with Alexander Trembitsky, Head of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of the Russian Federation.

According to the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, the talks with the STUK delegation focused on advanced regulatory approaches and practices in ensuring nuclear safety.

During the meeting with the Russian side, particular attention was given to nuclear and radiation safety, state regulation of the nuclear energy sector, licensing and inspection activities, and developing practical cooperation among the competent authorities.

The main objective of the meetings was to help establish an effective national safety system amid the growing use of nuclear technologies in Uzbekistan.

In addition to examining international experience, the focus is on strengthening the institutional capacity of regulatory agencies, upgrading specialists’ skills, refining licensing and inspection processes, and ensuring safety compliance throughout every phase of the life cycle of nuclear facilities.
