Syria Civil Defense raises awareness on unexploded war hazards in Quneitra

Quneitra, Sept. 16 (SANA)Syria’s Civil Defense Directorate inQuneitraorganized a training course on Tuesday at the Cultural Center in Madinat al-Baath to raise awareness of the risks posed bywar remnantsand promote safe practices for dealing with them.

The three-day course aims to equip volunteers with the knowledge needed to reduce risks, identify potential hazards and provide safety guidance to local communities.

Youssef Abu Husseini, Director of Empowerment at the Southern Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate, told SANA that the training was conducted in cooperation with Aman Community Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

He said the course targets 36 volunteers from Quneitra province and aims to reduce the risks of war remnants by strengthening community awareness and enabling volunteers to deliver safety guidance to residents.

Abu Husseini added that the training focuses on reaching local communities, particularly areas near schools, amid the presence of war remnants in several agricultural lands.

The sessions include theoretical and practical explanations on the importance of avoiding unidentified objects, not touching or tampering with suspicious items, and immediately informing specialized authorities.

The course is part of ongoing awareness campaigns and field programs carried out by Civil Defense teams and relevant authorities in Quneitra to raise public awareness and reduce casualties caused by war remnants.
