First Lady and Chief Guide Sajidha Mohamed officiated the closing ceremony of the 25th National Patrol Leaders’ Training Camp.The ceremony was held this afternoon in Vilimalé. Upon her arrival, the First Lady was accorded a Guard of Honour by students representing various schools.During the ceremony, Chief Commissioner of the Maldives Girl Guides Association Aishath Nasheeda presented a commemorative gift to the First Lady. The First Lady also presented tokens of appreciation to three entities that provided support in organising the camp.Addressing the gathering, the First Lady expressed her pleasure at attending the event and highlighted the camp as a valuable platform for students from across the country to gain knowledge and diverse experiences. She noted that the event coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Patrol Leaders’ Training (PLT) Camp and the approaching 75th Diamond Jubilee anniversary of the Maldives Girl Guides Association next year. She extended her warm congratulations to everyone leading and actively contributing to the Girl Guide movement in the Maldives.The First Lady stated that the upcoming 75th anniversary of the Girl Guide movement reflects the enduring importance Maldivian society places on education and sound moral character. She emphasised that the movement fosters personal discipline, punctuality, a focus on health and well-being, and diligence, while nurturing compassion toward family and the wider community.Elaborating further, the First Lady highlighted how these attributes help nurture principled, capable women within society. She added that beyond individual personal development, the Girl Guide movement plays a vital role in shaping social identity by instilling a humanitarian spirit and reminding participants to prioritise the collective interest over individual gain.The First Lady remarked that the motto of the Girl Guide movement represents overcoming challenges, pressures, and setbacks to reach one's goals, symbolising hope and optimism. Noting that every student in the movement has the potential to serve the country wherever needed, she urged them to understand the true essence of service, deliver it with integrity and dedication, and strive to become exemplary leaders who can contribute to the nation.Following the ceremony, the First Lady toured the campsite and joined participants for a commemorative photograph.
