President El-Sisi Meets Palestinian President Abbas
Today,President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said President El-Sisi welcomed the Palestinian President, emphasizing that the Palestinian cause will remain the core issue in the region until a just and comprehensive settlement is achieved. The President highlighted Egypt’s tireless efforts to support the Palestinian people and to advance a settlement in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, guaranteeing the Palestinian people full realization of their rights, particularly the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The President stressed that this is the sole path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
For his part, President Mahmoud Abbas expressed his pleasure at visiting Egypt and meeting with President El-Sisi, praising Egypt’s significant efforts in support of the Palestinian cause and in preserving the rights of the Palestinian people.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s stance rejecting all forms of escalation and Israeli violations against the Palestinian people. The President emphasized that Egypt will continue its efforts, in coordination with the mediators, to implement the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip reached during the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit in October 2025. The President also underscored the need for all parties to abide by the provisions of the agreement, including halting escalation, ensuring the flow of humanitarian assistance, and creating the conditions for early recovery and reconstruction.
In this context, President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm position rejecting the displacement of the Palestinian people or any attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause. The President further affirmed Egypt’s support for the Palestinian National Authority and for efforts to achieve consensus among the various Palestinian factions to bolster the interests of the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian President briefed President El-Sisi on the latest developments regarding the Palestinian cause, including the tragic situation in the West Bank resulting from Israeli occupation policies. President Abbas expressed his deep appreciation for the historic and steadfast role played by Egypt in supporting the Palestinian cause and achieving a sustainable and just settlement. He also conveyed the Palestinian people’s appreciation for Egypt’s efforts in this regard, stressing the importance of continuing consultations between the two countries on developments in the Palestinian territories and regional developments.
President El-Sisi welcomed this, and the two presidents agreed to intensify political coordination mechanisms at all levels during the coming period.
