Bulgaria and France open the door to deep and fruitful cooperation in the high-tech and space fields. This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev to the media after he and President Emmanuel Macron attended the signing ceremony at the Élisée Palace where EnduroSat and Arianespace signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Rumen Radev is visiting Paris at the invitation of the President of the French Republic to join as a participant the International Space Summit.

As Bulgaria’s Prime Minister said, the MOU that the two companies signed enables Bulgaria to secure its due place in the European space ecosystem. The Prime Minister emphasized that the Bulgarian company EnduroSat is one of the fastest growing entities in space technology development; in recent years it has manufactured and launched small satellites than outnumber those of all other European companies combined. The Bulgarian company is already investing in France and can utilize French rockets to launch its satellites into orbit.

“President Macron was the first to initiate the debate on Europe’s strategic autonomy,” Rumen Radev noted and then he said than in the modern age of rapidly developing technologies it is space science, research and industry that are the key areas to achieve this.

At the meeting of Prime Minister Rumen Radev with President Emmanuel Macron, they discussed, inter alia, bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and France and the potentials to achieve deeper partnership in high-tech sectors, the economy, investment and science.

In Paris Rumen Radev had a talk with the Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), Dr Josef Aschbacher. Members of the delegation led by Bulgaria’s Prime Minister to the International Space Summit are Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov and the Minister of Innovation and Digital Transformation Ivan Vasilev.
