A delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC), led by Peng Xiubin, Director General of the Bureau for Southeast and South Asian Affairs at the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the President’s Official Residence, Mulee’aage.

During the meeting, the Head of Delegation, Mr Peng, highlighted the shared values and close people-to-people ties between the two nations that underpin the Maldives–China relationship. He commended President Dr Muizzu’s commitment to national reform and the achievements realised under his leadership, describing them as a solid foundation for the Maldives’ continued development.

Mr Peng expressed hope for elevating the bilateral relationship to new heights through deeper economic cooperation and closer ties for mutual benefit. He also noted the frequent high-level exchanges between the Maldives and China as a testament to the strength of the partnership.

In response, the President expressed his deep gratitude for China’s longstanding friendship and the substantial support extended to the Maldives. He characterised the bilateral relationship as a comprehensive strategic partnership and acknowledged China’s continued economic assistance to the Maldives.
