Daraa, Sept. 16 (SANA)TheMinistry of Emergency and Disaster Managementhas launched a specializeddivingandwater rescuetraining course in Daraa to strengthen the capabilities of emergency teams and improve response to water-related accidents.

The 10-day course, organized by the Diving and Water Rescue Directorate, involves 15 personnel from the Emergency and Disaster Management Directorate in the southern region and is supervised by six instructors from Idlib and Daraa.

The training includes practical exercises in diving, swimming, water rescue, search and recovery operations, and the use of specialized equipment for deep-water incidents.

Diving and water rescue instructor Amer Mustafa Waqitin said the course aims to develop participants’ skills in free diving, swimming and rescue procedures, enabling them to respond effectively to water emergencies.

Search and rescue instructor Bassem Abu al-Ezz highlighted the importance of training personnel to use scuba equipment, conduct deep-water recovery operations and assist people during drowning incidents.

The course is part of programs implemented by the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management to develop rescue teams’ capabilities, enhance readiness and strengthen rapid response to protect civilian lives.
