Syria sets health system rebuilding priorities at Doha talks

Doha, Sept. 16 (SANA)Syrian healthofficials outlined priorities for moving the country’shealth systemfrom humanitarian response toward recovery and sustainable development during a specialized workshop inDoha, the Ministry of Health said Tuesday.

Key areas included stronger governance and coordination, development of the health workforce and medical education, and greater use of the expertise of Syrian professionals abroad, according to a ministry statement published on Telegram.

Participants also focused on building partnerships among health institutions, organizations and Syrian professionals to turn existing initiatives and expertise into sustainable institutional programs capable of responding more effectively to healthcare needs.

The ministry was represented by Zuhair al-Qarrat, Director of International Cooperation, and Duraid al-Rahmon, Director of the Health Professions Directorate.

The event, titled “Rebuilding the Health System in Syria,” was organized by the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) and hosted by the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies in the Qatari capital.

Bilal Turkiya, Chargé d’Affaires of the Syrian Embassy in Qatar, attended alongside representatives of the Syrian Medical Association in Qatar and experts and institutions working in health and humanitarian affairs.
