It is gestures like this and attitudes like that of this young woman that make us understand the role the State plays in people's lives . [applause] And I want to say how important this public policy that the president is launching is. President Lula is truly the only president who genuinely cares about the working class; he 's the only president of Brazil who actually does something for us. We fight, we go to the streets, we struggle. But like, it's such a struggle to achieve anything, you know? I'm someone who spent 14 years, you know, in that life of a star player, living on the streets. Six years ago, I found the strength, I stood my ground, I managed to get out, I managed to buy my motorcycle, because it's very important for us to acquire our own vehicle, it's very important for us to have the dignity of being able to buy our motorcycle, our car. But beyond that, it's also very important for us to earn a little more so we can rest. And so today I can see that, man, I got out of a life like that, I'm with the president. So politics is not inaccessible. We can get there, we can meet the people who do things for us. Every time we think about creating a public policy, someone always comes along to say, "You're spending too much." When in fact it should say the government is investing in what needs to be invested in, which is giving chances to those who never had a chance, giving opportunities to those who never had an opportunity.
