Housing minister, U.S. business delegation discuss investment opportunities in Syria
Damascus, Sept. 15 (SANA)Public Works and Housing MinisterMustafa Abdul Razzaq discussed cooperation and investment opportunities with aU.S. business delegationon Tuesday, with talks focusing on housing finance, real estate development,constructionandSyria’s reconstruction needs.
During an expanded session in Damascus, Abdul Razzaq outlined the ministry’s plans for regional and local planning, engineering and surveying consultancy, construction, housing and real estate development, the ministry said on its Telegram channel.
He stressed the need for investment partnerships that can help implement projects while transferring expertise and technology and strengthening national capabilities.
Representatives of U.S. companies focused on financing models for housing projects and ways to balance affordable housing with commercial viability. They also discussed expanding public-private partnerships and the legal and regulatory framework for investors.
The talks covered debris removal and growing housing needs linked to the return of refugees and internally displaced people.
The two sides agreed to establish joint working groups across the ministry’s four sectors to identify priority projects, exchange studies and investment opportunities, and examine financing and partnership models before moving toward implementation.
