Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Meets President of the Federal Republic of Germany in Berlin ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi met today, Tuesday, in the German capital, Berlin, with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as part of his official visit. The meeting included a review of the development of Iraqi-German relations, joint efforts to strengthen the bilateral economic partnership, and ways to expand opportunities for German companies to participate in ongoing development efforts and projects in Iraq. During the meeting, the Prime Minister affirmed that the Iraqi government is moving forward with expanding its economic openness toward Germany and European Union countries as a whole, amid plans to increase crude oil production and exports, raise electricity generation levels, and accelerate Iraq’s transformation into an effective economic corridor between Asian and European markets through the Development Road Project. The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Iraq’s determination to continue dedicating its efforts to supporting stability in the region and reducing regional tensions, to create further opportunities for regional and international economic partnerships and integration in development projects, in a manner that serves the interests of the Iraqi people and friendly peoples, including the German people. ••••• Media Office of the Prime Minister September 15, 2026
