Damascus, Sept. 15 (SANA)Twenty people were injured in road accidents and fires across Syria over the past 24 hours, the Civil Defense Department of theMinistry of Emergency and Disaster Managementsaid Tuesday.Civil Defense teamsresponded to 18traffic accidentsnationwide, providing first aid to 18 injured people, transferring them to hospitals and clearing the sites of the incidents.The teams also extinguished 101firesacross Syria, including blazes in homes, commercial shops, grasslands, trees, waste areas and electrical wiring.Two people were injured in the fires and received first aid at the scene, while the remaining damage was limited to property losses, according to the department.The Civil Defense urged residents to avoid lighting fires in forests and agricultural areas, and warned against throwing cigarette butts or glass containers near roads, crops and wooded areas.It also called for avoiding the burning of dry grass around homes and roads, and removing such materials through safe methods to reduce fire risks.Earlier, one person was killed and 33 others injured in fires and traffic accidents handled by Civil Defense teams across several Syrian provinces.
