Damascus, Sept. 15 (SANA)Syria and aUSeconomic delegation discussed investment opportunities in the transport sector during a roundtable meeting held in Damascus on Tuesday as part of talks aimed at strengthening economic partnerships.

The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, brought together Transport MinisterYarub Badrand members of the US delegation as part of a series of ministerial discussions on investment opportunities inSyria.

Badr said Syria’s transport policy focuses on developing a sustainable, multimodal domestic land transport system, highlighting opportunities for investment and cooperation in the sector.

He said the Islamic Development Bank has conducted a feasibility study on establishing a toll motorway system in Syria, noting that the country’s existing highways are currently free of charge.

The minister said Syria offers significant investment opportunities and invited US companies to contribute through consultancy services and procurement activities.

The discussions are part of meetings launched in Damascus by the Foreign Ministry’s departments of International Cooperation and American Affairs with the visiting US economic delegation to explore investment prospects and expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
