Kyiv, Sept. 15 (SANA)Ukraine’s General Staff said Russian military casualties since the beginning of 2026 have exceeded 300,000, with more than 301,000 troops reported killed or wounded during the year.

The figures, published by Ukraine’s General Staff and cited by Ukrinform, put Russian personnel losses at 301,030 since the start of 2026. Ukraine said the number is comparable to the manpower of nearly 150 motorized rifle regiments, based on an estimated 2,000 personnel per regiment.

Summer saw highest reported losses

According to the Ukrainian figures, Russian forces suffered their heaviest losses during the summer months, with 124,170 personnel reported killed or wounded.

The General Staff said losses reached 39,290 in June, 42,860 in July, and 42,020 in August. Russian losses in September were reported at 20,360 personnel as of Sept. 15.

Ukraine’s General Staff also estimated that Russia’s total military losses since the start of the full-scale invasion on Feb. 24, 2022, had reached approximately 1.51 million personnel by Sept. 15, 2026.

The casualty figures are provided by Ukraine’s military authorities and have not been independently verified. Russia does not regularly release comparable updated figures.
