Geneva, Sept. 15 (SANA)TheUnited Nationshas called for international investigators to be granted access to all areas of theGazaStrip to help collect evidence and document alleged violations, asPalestinianbodies and human remains continue to be recovered from beneath buildings destroyed during Israeli attacks.

UN High Commissioner for Human RightsVolker Türksaid in a statement on Tuesday that the remains of what appeared to be entire families were being recovered from sites levelled by Israeli attacks, warning that the discovery of large numbers of remains had renewed concerns over possible war crimes and other serious violations.

Türk warned that the remains recovered so far may represent only “the tip of the iceberg,” saying large parts of Gaza had been flattened by bombardment, demolitions and rubble-clearing operations involving heavy machinery and explosives. He said some areas continued to be cleared despite the possibility of bodies remaining beneath the rubble.

He called for international investigators to be allowed access to all areas of the Strip to preserve evidence, identify victims, safeguard forensic records and biological samples, document burial locations and inform families of the fate of their relatives.

“The right of families to know the fate of their loved ones does not end with identification and proper burial, but includes knowing the full truth about what happened to them,” Türk said.

The UNhuman rightschief said the recovery of extensive remains beneath the rubble had renewed concerns over possible war crimes and other serious violations.

The Palestinian Civil Defense previously said that more than 630 bodies and human remains had been recovered from beneath destroyed buildings across Gaza between November 2025 and September 2026, while the UN human rights office estimates that more than 8,000 people remain missing under the rubble.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said Tuesday that Gaza hospitals had received three bodies and 27 wounded people over the past 24 hours, adding that the number of victims since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10 had reached 1,375 killed and 4,686 wounded.

The ministry said the total number of Palestinian deaths since the start of the war on Oct. 7, 2023, had risen to 73,789, with 174,798 others injured.
