His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and The Honourable Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, today witnessed the exchange of key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the Maldives and Malaysia, aimed at strengthening cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.

A Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged between the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Maldives and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia in the field of defence. The agreement provides a framework for strengthening bilateral cooperation and engagement between the two countries in defence-related matters.

Furthermore a Memorandum of Understanding was exchanged between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Maldives and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia on cooperation in the field of Islamic affairs. The agreement will further facilitate cooperation and engagement between the two countries in matters related to Islamic affairs.

The exchange ceremony was held at the President’s Office as part of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s ongoing State Visit to the Maldives. The visit reflects the longstanding and close relations between the Maldives and Malaysia and provides an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
