Cairo, Sept. 14 (SANA)Egypt and the United Arab Emirates on Monday renewed calls for efforts to overcome challenges facing the region and their repercussions for the security of theRed Seaand Bab al-Mandab, while working to end regional escalation.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministrysaid on its official website that Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed regional developments during a phone call, particularly the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and developments in Yemen amid the latest escalation.

The two ministers stressed the need to uphold international law and safeguard the security and freedom of international navigation. They also called for intensified efforts to contain tensions and prevent the conflict from widening, contributing to greater security and stability in the region.

Last Friday, Abdelatty discussed regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions and strengthen regional security and stability in separate phone calls with his UAE counterpart and Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.
