Department of Culture, Communications and Sport returns to the National Ploughing Championships in 2026

The Department of Culture, Communications and Sport has unveiled an exciting, diverse programme of events for the 2026 National Ploughing Championships. Bringing together national cultural institutions, sporting bodies, and traditional arts organisations, the Department’s marquee will highlight Ireland’s rich heritage, active living, and vibrant creative arts over the three-day event.

The National Ploughing Championship is a cornerstone of Irish rural life, making it the perfect stage to celebrate our shared heritage, living traditions, and dynamic arts sector. From exploring the newly released 1926 Census records with the National Archives to experiencing our finest traditional musicians and craftspeople, this year's programme offers a remarkable opportunity for communities to connect directly with the cultural institutions that safeguard our national story.
