Al-Iqtisadiyya magazine launches to support economic decision-making in Syria
Damascus, Sept. 14 (SANA)Syria launched a new specialized economic magazine aimed at improving access to reliable data and analysis for investors and policymakers, as the country seeks to strengtheneconomicdecision-making and address gaps in specialized financial journalism.
Al-Iqtisadiyya, published by Al-Wahda Foundation for Press, Printing, Publishing and Distribution, was officially launched on Sunday inDamascusunder the patronage of the Ministry of Information. The magazine, which will be issued twice a month, will cover markets, investment, production and economic policy.
Finance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barnieh said Syria needs specialized media platforms capable of providing accurate information and addressing gaps in economic journalism. He said Al-Iqtisadiyya would go beyond reporting news by providing economic analysis and a forum for discussing financial and economic policies.
Central Bank of Syria Governor Safwat Raslan described the magazine as an important addition to the country’s economic landscape, saying specialized platforms could strengthen dialogue among economic stakeholders and provide space to examine challenges and achievements.
Information MinisterKhaled Zaaroursaid the magazine would present economic information and statistics transparently and in context, including analysis of how global developments, wars and economic decisions affect Syria.
Communications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Salam Haykal stressed the importance of improving public access to data and information to support more informed decisions, while Transport Minister Yarub Badr said evidence-based economic analysis could help policymakers assess the consequences of their decisions and support economic growth.
Khaled al-Khalaf, director of Al-Wahda Foundation, said Al-Iqtisadiyya was launched in response to Syria’s evolving economic landscape and would provide accurate information, track markets, investment and production, and explain how economic decisions affect citizens, businesses and investors.
