Damascus, Sept. 14 (SANA)SyrianFinance Minister Mohammed Yisr Barniehdiscussed with an International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation technical support to help the ministry adopt the latest edition of the Government Finance Statistics Manual, aiming to improve financial data quality and align with international standards.

The two sides discussed requirements for beginning the transition toward implementing the new statistical framework in Syria during a meeting held Sunday at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Damascus.

Minister Barnieh directed the ministry’s relevant team to complete the necessary preparations before the end of the current year.

The IMF delegation’s current visit to Syria will continue for two weeks.

The move comes as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, efficiency and the quality of public finance data, supporting better policymaking and decision-making.
